| Catalog Description: A course dealing with (1) how science and ecology work and how they provide a framework for understanding environmental issues, (2) environmental issues the globe faces, and (3) the human role in the environment, including how humans impact—and are affected by—the environment. The course broadly covers ecology and the environment, resources and pollution, environmental change and effects on diversity, the role of humans, the future global environment, and ramifications for sustainability, economics, and politics. Laboratory fee $30. First semester. |
