JSD 3 Colleges * 3 Disciplines * 1 Department
Welcome to Joint Science
The Joint Science Department serves students from Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges, three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges, and we house faculty in biology, chemistry, and physics. We are truly “Three Colleges, Three Disciplines, One Department.”Home to this extraordinary collaboration is the W.M. Keck Science Center, which is located at the nexus of the three colleges. Our programs foster a passion for science and the development of analytical thinking. Our dedicated focus is on undergraduate education, which enables us to offer small classes at both the introductory and advanced levels and to provide numerous opportunities for independent research. Joint Science offers over a dozen majors, many of which build upon the multidisciplinary nature of the department and of The Claremont Colleges.
Joint Science faculty and students work side-by-side in the department’s many research laboratories and in the field. Together, faculty and students regularly co-author research publications and present their work at scientific conferences. Collectively, our students attend the finest graduate and professional schools, and our alumni are making their mark in a wide variety of fulfilling careers.
Information on all of our programs is available throughout this website. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the faculty in the department.
